Use case - product-to-revenue

Connect Amplitude to revenue, not just clicks

Product work gets treated as a cost center because its wins are reported in engagement metrics nobody outside product finds convincing, while the features that actually move revenue don't get credited or funded accordingly.

In short

We attach actual revenue events - a subscription upgrade, a renewal, an order value - to the same user and session data as product usage, so a feature's impact shows up as a dollar figure instead of a clicks-and-engagement proxy. That's the difference between a chart a finance team nods at and one they push back on.

The situation

You can show a chart full of engagement and clicks, but the moment someone in finance asks 'so what did that make us,' the room goes quiet.

What we implement

We instrument revenue events - upgrades, renewals, order value - as first-class Amplitude events tied to the same user and session data as product usage - what's called revenue-linked product analytics - so a feature's business impact is a number, not a proxy.

What you get

Illustrative

A team that previously reported a feature's success only in daily-active-user lift might find, once revenue events are connected, that the feature drives upgrades at a meaningfully higher rate than the average user - a very different pitch to leadership than an engagement chart alone. (Illustrative scenario - not a measured result.)

Frequently asked questions

Do we need a separate billing integration for this?+

You need your billing or payments system to fire an event (or expose data you can pipe in) at the moment revenue actually changes - upgrade, renewal, cancellation. Most billing platforms support this through a webhook or server-side call; the implementation sprint maps your specific stack.

Is this the same as marketing attribution?+

Related but distinct - marketing attribution connects a customer's origin (which ad, which channel) to an outcome; revenue-linked product analytics connects in-product behavior to that outcome. Used together, they answer both 'where did this money come from' and 'what in the product made it happen.'
