What do the audit scores mean?
Each of the ten dimensions scores 0-10 with the evidence attached - not “taxonomy: poor” but “41 of 210 events violate the naming convention; here are the worst 10.” The scoring rubric comes from our enterprise analytics audit practice, where the deliverable has to survive review by the client’s own data team. The rescue: fixing trust, not just charts
The tempting fix is cosmetic - archive the junk, rebuild the dashboards. It fails because the pipeline that created the mess is still running. A real rescue works upstream: tracking plan first (see the template for the format), then event consolidation with a migration map so history stays queryable, then re-instrumentation of the surfaces that lie, then governance rules in Amplitude’s data management so drift gets caught at the source. If you are mid-move from another platform, the migration service folds the rescue in.

What does the free Amplitude audit check?+
Ten scored dimensions: naming-convention consistency, duplicate and near-duplicate events, orphaned events with no queries, property type hygiene, identity resolution health, session configuration, governance rules in place, dashboard usage patterns, tracking-plan coverage of core flows, and agreement with a reference source such as your warehouse. You get a score per dimension and the three fixes with the highest payoff.
What access do you need for the audit?+
Read-only viewer access to your Amplitude project is enough for the full audit. If you want the warehouse-agreement check, a read-only view on the relevant table (or just an exported count) covers it. We sign an NDA first if you need one - client data never leaves your systems.
Why do Amplitude numbers stop matching the warehouse?+
The usual causes, in order of frequency: events double-firing from two instrumentation paths, identity merges counting one user as several, client-side blocking that server-side sources don't share, differing session definitions, and filters baked into old saved charts. An audit identifies which of these you actually have instead of guessing.
What does a rescue engagement look like after the audit?+
A rescue is a scoped project driven by the audit findings: consolidate duplicate events behind a migration map, fix property types, rebuild the tracking plan to match reality, re-instrument the worst surfaces, and stand up governance so it does not regress.
