Mobile App Analytics Tools
Mobile app analytics tools track how users behave inside iOS and Android apps - screens viewed, actions taken, retention over time - alongside mobile-specific concerns like app version adoption and crash correlation. The category spans product analytics platforms with mobile SDKs (Amplitude, Mixpanel), attribution tools (AppsFlyer, Adjust), and store/performance consoles.

What is different about analytics on mobile?
Four things: identity spans devices and reinstalls (making identity resolution harder and more important), events queue offline and arrive late (analysis must tolerate delay), app versions coexist for months (every metric needs a version dimension), and attribution runs through privacy frameworks like ATT rather than URL parameters. Web-first setups ported naively to mobile break on all four.
Which tool categories do you actually need?
Usually one per job, not five: a product analytics platform with first-class mobile SDKs for behavior and retention, an attribution tool if paid acquisition matters, and the platform consoles for store metrics and crashes. The commonest waste is buying overlapping behavior tools; the commonest gap is having attribution but no behavioral depth.
In practice: We implement Amplitude across iOS, Android, and React Native - with cross-platform identity designed up front.
Mobile App Analytics Tools: common questions
Is Firebase enough for mobile app analytics?+
Firebase (with GA4) covers store-adjacent basics and crash reporting well, and it's free. Teams outgrow it when product questions get longitudinal - cohort retention, cross-platform funnels, behavioral segmentation - which is the product-analytics job Firebase wasn't designed to lead.
